How to Cocktail: Whiskey Sour

This all-time classic cocktail is a very versatile drink, as it can be made with just about any type of spirit. In this video, mixologist Brooke Arthur shows you how to make a Whiskey Sour.


  • .75 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • .75 oz Simple syrup (one part sugar, one part water)
  • 1.5 oz Bourbon
  • Garnish: Cherry
  • Glass: Rocks

Add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake, and strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a cherry and/or lemon wedge if desired.

    Thanks for sharing such a nice blog about how to make a whiskey sour. I would suggest you to checkout cranberry black paper shrub cocktail as well. It also tastes sweet. This cocktail contains my all time favorite ingredients.

    My recommendation:

    2 oz bourbon
    .5 oz fresh lime
    .5 oz fresh lemon
    1 egg white
    couple dashes of Angostura bitters
    .5 oz simple syrup (I use lime infused)

    Shake over ice, serve with a Luxardo cherry.

    I use Bulliet Rye or Jameson if I'm out and 1.5 oz of each. Perfect according to my taste buds. If you want to up it, try the killer New York Sour, out of this world good!

    The recipe calls for 1.5 oz Whiskey, yet Brooke used 2 oz, which is better mx anyway.

    Always bourbon ;) But should also have the egg white (looks better). I also usually use a couple of drops of angostura bitter after the dring is poured into the glass. Tops it of beutifully :D
