How to Make a South Side

How to Cocktail: South Side

Despite its name, there are no geographical limitations for this gin cocktail. Top San Francisco bartender Kevin Diedrich shows you how to make a South Side.

  • 5 Mint leaves
  • 1 oz Simple syrup (one part sugar, one part water)
  • 1 oz Lemon juice
  • 2 oz No. 3 Gin
  • Garnish: Mint sprig
  • Glass: Cocktail

In a shaker, muddle the mint and simple syrup. Add the lemon juice and gin, and fill with ice. Shake, and double-strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a mint sprig.

I love the color of turbinado simple syrup, definitely adds a slight sophistication for any drink in use with it. Cheers!
