How to Cocktail: 50/50 Martini

The 50/50 Martini is a lighter take on the classic Martini, and a great way to ease into your evening. Find out how to make this gin classic with mixologist Jamie Gordon.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.5 oz Plymouth Gin
  • 1.5 oz Dry vermouth
  • 1 dash Orange bitters
  • Garnish: Lemon twist
  • Glass: Martini

PREPARATION:

Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir, and strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

    I always called this the vogin. Mixed 1/2 vodka absolute and 1/2 bombay saffire. 1 cube pour in glass u get a stronger gin taste at first then mellows to the vodka

    The key is finding a good, bone-dry vermouth. Most of them are nasty. I suggest Noilly-Prat, Dolin, or Vya whisper dry. Note also that vemouth is wine, after all, and the bottle won't stay good for long at room temperature...

    Love the idea at a more session able martini. Except most dry vermouths are so strong it kills the drink to mix it 50/50. Only one I know that does it well is Lo-Fi.
