Nestled inside River North’s hip, chic Acme Hotel, the Berkshire Room is a debonair space that harks back to an era of rendezvous in dark corners for discreet business meetings or other sordid affairs. And though the masculine vibe in this throwback den may scream whiskey, celebrated beverage director Benjamin Schiller compiled a drool-worthy collection that encompasses all spirits, including refined vodkas such as Aylesbury Duck, Death’s Door and Russian Standard Gold. Berkshire Room is perfect for post-work cocktails as much as it is for a late-night gathering with friends in one of the side nooks with moody leather banquettes. If you’re unsure what to drink, choose the Dealer’s Choice. You select a spirit, flavor profile and type of glass—and leave the creative concoction up to the bartenders.
THE DRINK TO DRINK
Schiller recently added the Long Afternoon, a drink crafted with Aperol, grapefruit and cucumber, in which the guest chooses the base spirit. Schiller said most select vodka, and you will have a solid list to choose from.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Berkshire Room is in the heart of River North, inside the Acme Hotel and next to another hip spot, the Freehand Hotel, so if you need to crash and sleep off your drinks, you won’t have far to go.
