Bloomingdale’s Truxton Inn wears the lived-in look of a lounge from a bygone era in the best way possible. Evoking the feel of a classic hotel lobby or an old-school private club, the space is loaded with little nooks and seating areas. Brian Nixon plans to unveil a new cocktail menu every two months, composed of classic cocktail Suggestions and matching Recommendations, inventive riffs on their traditional counterparts. But of course the bar crew will also mix up whatever you’d like, so come in to take a load off, relax and have a good drink or, as Nixon says, “get away from the world.”
THE DRINK TO DRINK: A highlight from the opening menu was the JFK on Vacay, with pineapple rum, rhum agricole, passion fruit, lime juice and mulled simple syrup.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: There are no televisions and absolutely never will be. Nixon would quite assuredly leave the project before he allowed it.
