The acronym stands for “vintage New York lifestyle,” and this 7,000-square-foot, four-floor extravaganza is dedicated to ’70s-inspired partying and craft cocktails. Tuck into a tufted leather couch in the Lion’s Den for beer and TV, buy records, coffee and drinks on the main floor, enjoy bottle service and views on the second floor, or head to the stylish Black Rose craft cocktail room on the third. Reservations recommended.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: One of the few bars to have a dedicated Milk Punch section, the 1862 features American brandy, cognac, arrack, pineapple, lemon, clove, coriander, cinnamon, green tea, brown sugar and milk, served in a milk bottle.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Irish expat and owner of Lower East Side hangout The Late Late, James Morrissey is the brains behind this lifestyle experience. Entourage actor Adrian Grenier curates the playlist and record shop.
