WHY HERE: It's not just the drinks that have class. At this bar in Nashville, the décor brings to mind an old library mixed with a smoking den one might discover at an honorable men's club. Rules such as “no name-dropping”, “no fighting” and “leave with the person you came with” remain old-school. Keep in mind there's also a no cell phone policy, so even if you want to snap a picture of that sexy cocktail, hold off until the next bar.

WHY NOW: Brothers Benjamin and Max Goldberg opened this swanky spot in 2009, and the menu remains concise while also being interesting. Classic drinks include the little known Princess’s Smile (Beefeater gin, lemon, apple brandy and Giffard Abricot du Roussillon liqueur) and the Corn ’n’ Oil (Appleton Estate Signature Blend rum, Cruzan Black Strap rum, lime and falernum). Guests can also sample from the list of house cocktails to help wash down a wedge of fried brie with bacon jam or a dainty shrimp corn dog.
