The Pastry War

No, you won’t get pastries here. The Pastry War refers to a conflict between France and Mexico in 1838, but this restaurant is a friendly meeting of the two cultures. However, the winner this time is the tequila and mezcal selection. Unlike other bars, The Pastry War proudly serves agave spirits only from family-owned distilleries that have been personally visited by the owners, Bobby Heugel and Alba Huerta. You’ll see a sign displaying which brands they are proud not to serve––most of which are the tequila brands we all know––so come prepared to be adventurous. With a menu pages long, the duo has successfully brought tequilas and mezcals to the U.S. never imported before that make the trip well worth it, delicious cocktails aside.
