The Passenger

The Passenger

Tom Brown has brought The Passenger back to life after a nearly two-year hiatus, in a new Shaw location and with the tagline “God Save the District.” Devotees to Brown and The Passenger will certainly feel saved with the new multilevel location and a dedication to laid-back, B.S.-free good drinking. Find a constantly changing chalkboard lineup of specialty cocktails, partially from general manager Jade Aldrighette, along with a devotion to rye whiskey and Chartreuse, and a modest but tailored craft beer assortment. A small lineup of belly-filling bar food keeps the good times rolling.

THE DRINK TO DRINK: Green and Yellow Chartreuse are both on tap for $6 a pour. Where else is that available? Apparently nowhere, as it’s said to be a first in the country.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Those specialty cocktails are only a nudge in the right direction du jour. Tell a bartender your preferences, and he or she will work up something for you.
