Taking over the beloved Evelyn space and leaving much of its rustic wood interior intact, the good folks at The Wayland have opened this unpretentious neighborhood spot. Due to its nautical theme and seaside Mexican-inspired menu, you might be forgiven for daydreaming about swimsuits and fish tacos in the dead of winter. A friendly local crowd hums in conversation, enjoying beer, wine, cocktails and beach bungalow fare like ceviche tostadas and an elote (roasted corn) grilled cheese sandwich.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: Frozen drinks are popular here. Donnie the Rum Bum blends rum, pineapple, grapefruit, cinnamon syrup, lime, bitters and falernum.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: A back room features booth seating, an electric fireplace and access to the bar for food and drink.
