Fans of Astoria’s Sweet Afton–and there were many in the neighborhood’s once cocktail-starved territory—were thrilled when the team’s second venture, the Bonnie, opened a short stroll from the ever popular Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden. Although the sprawling two-bar space has a full food menu (shout-out to the whipped ricotta and bacon jam toast), it’s an ambient spot for a Piña Colada or summer Shandy relished in the outdoor garden.
THE DRINK TO DRINK:
Vodka and McClure’s Pickles come together in the Dirty Pickle Martini. For something more complex, the Crown Alley amplifies the spirit with a mélange of Cocchi Americano, apricot, rooibos tea, honey and lemon.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
Bartender Mike Di Tota is also a horticulturist, and his botanical passion leads to drinks laced with intriguing herbal ingredients like lavender and thyme.
Don't lose track of The Bonnie!
