An overlooked gem in the Heisler Hospitality group (The Barrelhouse Flat, Bar DeVille, et al.), Sportsman’s Club inherited its name—and its beautiful Art Deco bar—from the neighborhood dive it replaced a handful of years back. It still proudly caters to the neighborhood, though cocktail connoisseurs elbow their way in to check out modernities like the amaro tap.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: Take a chance on the rotating Sportsman’s Cocktail. Either that, or the daily Manhattan. Those are your options, and they’re limited on purpose: to lend creative license to whoever’s behind the stick.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: A popular industry hangout, Sportsman’s Club comes to life on Monday nights. Weekends are for amateurs.
