Pac Heights newcomer The Snug takes over a lofty space with one long bar and standout bites from chef Brian Shin, who hails from three-Michelin-starred greats like Benu in S.F. and Alinea in Chicago. Open since November from Shane Matthews, Zack Schwab, Brian Shin and Jacob Racusin, Racusin’s cocktails and a good craft beer draft selection keep things flowing.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: The Prickly Pear (mezcal, amaro, nopales (cactus), prickly pear, habanero tincture and lime) is rightly a house favorite, but you’ll get a refreshing burst of wheatgrass and fresh aloe vera juice with blanco tequila, lime and Chareau California aloe liqueur in the Aloe Vera cocktail.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Fill up on chef Shin’s lobster chips with Old Bay dip, pig trotter hot dog or shiitake chickpea hummus scooped up with sesame naan cooked in a tandoor oven remaining from the space’s former Indian restaurant.
