The latest from sugar genius Tariq Hanna is this freshly opened, savory-focused “salon” above the French Quarter outpost of his candy-and-baked-good empire Sucre. Enter downstairs to get a fix of pastel-hued macarons or a scoop of gelato, then wander upstairs to the French-influenced, mid-century stylings of the Salon and to nibble on snacks like Wagyu beef “sliderettes” with bacon jam. The best time to go is for a charming afternoon tea, with the Salon preparing an eclectic selection of green, white, herbal and black teas paired with classic finger sandwiches, scones and—of course—superb sweets.
Know Before You Go: Tea cocktails are a must-drink item, including the E.J. Bellocq, which combines sake with chocolate liqueur.
