WHY HERE: NYC’s second-wave (or third?) Tiki scene was floundering a bit until this spacious, warmly decorated tropical getaway popped up inside the Times Square Pod hotel. Classic and original cocktails are boozy but well balanced, and the islands-influenced dishes are on point. Groups of six or more might consider large-format drinks, like the Exotica Bowl, rum infused with makrut lime, green curry, coriander, lemongrass, ginger, coconut and fresh juices, all served in a massive faux oyster shell amid billowing dry ice.

WHY NOW: Bar maven Brian Miller (Death & Co) has been hosting Tiki Mondays in the city for a decade and has traveled the tropics in search of the best drink inspirations, to which he often applies personal spins.
