With the debut of Maydān, Rose Previte and her creative team of artistic globe-traveling bon vivants have managed to up the ante from their previous gem, Compass Rose. Here, they start with a massive two-story space and put it to good use, with a fiery open-hearth kitchen, beautiful large bar area and communal, bustling atmosphere that walks the line between house party and hot spot. The food spans a range of influences from northern Africa to the Middle East, with a matching eclectic wine list and creative cocktails.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: Za’atar, a mainstay Middle Eastern spice mix, is the signature cocktail, made with WildJune gin from District Distilling, Capitoline white vermouth, sumac, thyme and argan oil.
