One of the original spots that helped to revive New Orleans’ cocktail scene, Loa still feels like the kind of under-the-radar gem for a solo drink or with an intimate date. Cocktails are focused on fresh ingredients (as revealed by aromatic plumes of herbs lining the bar) and the lounge-like, velveteen ambiance oozes charm and romance. The menu rotates constantly, and always offers at least one creation that’s equal parts clever and quirky, like a sherry flight using bread “cornucopias” as drinking vessels.
