Last Rites

Last Rites

Justin Lew and Ian Scalzo know what it takes to open a memorable bar. They introduced the world to Bourbon & Branch more than a decade ago. Their summer newcomer, Last Rites, is, indeed, memorable. Dubbed Polynesian noir, this Castro bar is an “Indiana Jones”-like adventureland of skulls and tropical drinks that are sure to lure the Tiki crowd and anyone else who loves a good cocktail.

THE DRINK TO DRINK: The Kali MA's Doom (an “Indiana Jones” nod) plays with gin, pisco, a melon and sauvignon blanc syrup, grapefruit, lime and vanilla cream, topped with a toasted marshmallow.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: The former Residence space has been transformed into a tropical island as Lew and Scalzo worked with designer James Lagoc (of Nopa, Bi-Rite and Horsefeather) and fabricator Brian Sullivan.
