123 of 228:

WHY HERE: Hidden in the back of a Fort Greene seafood joint called Walter’s, you’ll find the most darling Japanese bar in town. Karasu is the name, and it’s run by Yael Peet and Elena Yamamoto, two awesome chefs who wanted to create a traditional Japanese izakaya in Brooklyn.

WHY NOW: Any time you find your way into this charming den, you’ll be greeted warmly and with a menu full of seasonal Japanese bites such as duck confit soba soup and sake-steamed clams. Each plate sings harmoniously with the equally thought-out menu of drinks, including reinterpreted classics, shōchū, sake and Japanese whisky.
