Upper East Side swanky hotel The Lowell just got a $25 million makeover, and the owners took the opportunity to open two new drinking spots, perfect for starting an evening with out-of-town guests. Jacques is a classic-feeling Art Deco hotel bar with a fireplace and glass-enclosed garden. There’s also The Club Room, a lush landscape of padded gold and royal blue with lounge-style seating.

THE DRINK TO DRINK: Classics abound (and rare and extra-old scotch and Armagnac tempt at Jacques). At both bars, you can score the end-of-the-night Casablanca Sunset (made with Havana Club dark rum, chocolate bitters and grapefruit juice) paired with caviar or an elegant cheese plate.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: The Club Room is reserved for guests only until 5 p.m., when it morphs from “place to chill” to “chill lounge.”
