Just opening in April, temporary bar Tsk Tsk—from bar veterans Justin Lew and Ian Scalzo with chef Ryan Chinchilla (of Blue Plate and Foreign Cinema)—transformed into Horsefeather, a sleek American Arts and Crafts beauty marked by artful woods and teal blue banquettes and flooring, fronted by an enclosed patio. Chinchilla turns out shareable small plates like clay pot chicken wings in fish sauce caramel or beets escabeche with vanilla cauliflower puree, while Lew and Scalzo’s lovely drinks are grouped by shaken and stirred cocktails.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: The balanced California Cooler already feels signature—lively with celery juice, lime, thyme and horseradish, given elegance from a base of gin, sauvignon blanc and sparkling wine. A winner at night or brunch is the light wine-graced Sun Country, combining lemon, vanilla, orange juice, chardonnay, a touch of mezcal, Mandarine Napoléon and egg white.
