A part of Charles Phan’s restaurant group, Hard Water offers one of the best American whiskey collections in the world. That’s thanks to Erik Adkins, who has compiled a superlative collection of hundreds of whiskies. It’s a list where extinct rarities like A.H. Hirsch 16-Year Reserve and Parker’s Heritage Golden Anniversary (a five-decade blend of bourbons from one of the country’s great distillers) co-exist alongside rare house barrels from distillers like St. George, Willett, Four Roses and Elijah Craig.

If you’re not drinking some rarity neat or a sampling a themed whiskey flight, New Orleans’ cocktail classics abound, from a Cocktail a la Louisiane to a Mint Julep. Try the Dixie Cocktail: Old Forester bonded bourbon, gum syrup, orange curaçao, Angostura Bitters and crème de menthe.

During lunch and dinner hours, New Orleans’ food understandably accompanies classic New Orleans cocktails. Boudin balls and bourbon cherry-glazed pork ribs are just the thing to satiate as you sip bourbon.
