New from Locanda Verde alumni Jess Goldfarb and Camilo Viafara comes this West Village bar and eatery. Taking over the space from a popular Mexican spot, the duo have transformed it from rustico to casual modern with sleek lines and metal-highlighted polished woods. The small but well-crafted cocktail menu checks all of the current boxes: seasonal drinks, draft cocktails, a large-format option, carefully curated American wines and a bottled riff on the Rum & Coke featuring Rhum Clément Select Barrel rum and a house-made cola. Pair with upgraded pub grub, including hot crab dip with smoked cheddar and a foie gras-stuffed baked chicken (feet left on!) or braised maitake mushroom.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: Traditionalists will appreciate the Make Your Own Old Fashioned menu. Choose from three base spirits, three different bitters and either cane, smoked or maple sugars.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Though the décor and menu read upscale, the vibe of the crowd is more relaxed. A couple of relatively subtle big-screen TVs means game night might be crowded.
