A beautiful, recently opened park that runs linearly along the length of the Mississippi River in the Bywater, Crescent City Park is one of the city’s finest options for picnicking and people watching as the ships roll by. The park retains an industrial feel as an homage to the area’s wharf heritage, with 20 acres dappled with picnic tables, flower beds, trails for dog walking and grassy spots ideal for working off last night’s gumbo with a couple of sun salutations.
Know Before You Go: The main entrance is a large, impressive half-moon-shaped bridge over the railroad tracks around the park’s midpoint. It could be cumbersome for some. Other pathways are located on the park’s edges.
