WHY HERE: Cheery by its very name (which is taken from Lewis Carroll’s “The Jabberwocky”) Callooh-Callay is a bar that’s just about as whimsical as they come. The space was a pioneer in the Shoreditch neighborhood, opening in 2008, and continues to wow guests with flavor combinations like those found in the Saint Helier (Somerset cider brandy, Black Cow vodka, Jersey black butter, lemon and egg white).

WHY NOW: Over a decade in, and there’s no sign of slowing for the gregarious and imaginative bar team. The multispace bar now includes the members-only Jubjub bar (membership is free), where a single bartender reigns for a full month, wielding show-stopping new libations.
