WHY HERE: Cheery by its very name (which is taken from Lewis Carroll’s "The Jabberwocky"), Callooh-Callay is a bar that’s just about as whimsical as they come. The space was a pioneer in the Shoreditch neighborhood, opening way back in 2008, and continues to wow guests with flavor combinations like those found in the Saint Helier (Somerset cider brandy, Black Cow vodka, Jersey black butter, lemon and egg white).

WHY NOW: These cats know what they’re doing. Almost a decade in, there’s no sign of slowing for the gregarious and imaginative bar team. What’s more, top-flight tunes are also a huge part of the bar’s atmosphere, and many of the house playlists are shared online.
