Blind Tiger

Hipster? Sure. But ultimately, it’s fun. Subterranean Blind Tiger, which opened in Oakland in February, is a massive, underground graffiti-walled space that can fit you and a group of friends at communal tables while quirky films like Legend play on large screens. It’s all set to Asian fusion small plates and refreshing cocktails.

THE DRINK TO DRINK: The Bell Rosa shows off the umami notes of Oakland Spirits Automatic gin with red bell pepper juice, Cocchi Rosa, lemon and black pepper. But if you want to go low-proof, the Bait & Switchel combines Blandy’s Madeira, Aperol and lemon, adding texture with apple butter but keeping it dry with a splash of prosecco.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: With your drinks, slurp oyster shooters, go vegetarian with house kimchi or grilled street corn, or fill up on grilled duck hearts, massaman curry fries or yuzu crab cakes.
