From the Dead Rabbit team comes another immersive drinking experience, this time paying homage to Prohibition-era Cuba and the American expat bars Hemingway might have favored. Bar manager Jesse Vida and beverage director Jillian Vose sling inventive reinterpretations of 20th-century classics. A Rum & Coke includes Fernet-Branca and Champagne for a pleasant, artisanal bite. The Button Hook is an enjoyably lethal combo of Armagnac, rhum agricole, dry vermouth, apricot brandy, cacao liqueur, falernum, gentiane, crème de menthe and absinthe that somehow convincingly looks like a glass of water. Themed dishes like a Cubano sandwich and a short-rib Sloppy Joe receive delicious contemporary upgrades. Poke around the sizable space, admiring everything from vintage photographs and knickknacks to the killer views of New York Harbor.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: So many great choices on this 88-page menu. For sweet but not too sweet, go for the Havana De Lux (banana-infused rum, banana and lime).
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Cocktails in each category—highball, punch, sour, cocktail and Old Fashioned—are served in distinct period-accurate glassware.
