Featuring one of the longest waits on Randolph Street, Au Cheval is famous for its diner-style cheeseburger. But because it’s part of restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff’s empire, there’s a solid cocktail menu to boot. Similar drink menus live at any of Sodikoff’s spots, including Maude’s Liquor Bar down the street and Bavette’s across the river. But only Au Cheval has the cheeseburger.

THE DRINK TO DRINK: Vieux Bonal, an unexpected post-Prohibition classic

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: The average table wait exceeds an hour—just enough time to give you a head-start on drinks.
