The always-bustling Eighteenth Street Lounge, a music venue and nightclub known throughout the District as ESL, has received a major cocktail upgrade in the form of Addendum. The bar within a bar focuses on craft cocktails that don’t use citrus or syrups. Expect spirit-forward stirred drinks that get creative with bitters and cordials. The cocktail program is headed by Mr. Everywhere in D.C. Right Now, Lukas B. Smith, alongside J.D. Quioco, with a rotating cast of guest bartenders behind the stick.

THE DRINK TO DRINK: The re-imagined Rum & Cola, riffing on the flavors of the classic with dry spiced rum, Amaro Averna, walnut liqueur and St. Raphaël apéritif.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Addendum, meaning “what is added,” signifies the bar’s focus on a modifying agent added to a base spirit in order to reinterpret it.
