Drink Here Now is bigger and better than ever.
This year, 228 bars are featured. And, for 2018, Drink Here Now has gone global. It’s now a celebration of the world’s greatest, most distinctive bars.
The winners—selected by some of the most knowledgeable, well-traveled people we know—are located in 58 cities around Planet Earth. These are the 14 categories:
Together, the winners are exactly where you want to be drinking. Choose a city and find a new favorite bar. Or pick one of the 14 categories and check out the awardees from across the world. Or wander the map, drink by continent by drink.
Drink Here Now is not only about the newest, and it’s not just about the best. It’s about the smartest, the most thoughtful, the bleeding edge, the tried-and-true. The places that matter most—right now.

WHY HERE: The hidden Buck and Breck may have you feeling like an American spy infiltrating a Cold War–era Berlin safe house. Find your comrades within, with a unique setup originally comprised of a single-table bar with room for just over a dozen imbibers at a time but now with added booths.
WHY NOW: A short menu of classics and classics-inspired cocktails can be found, but the ticket here is simply sharing your own preferences and asking for a bartender's recommendations.

WHY HERE: The diviest of dive bar exteriors gives way to a welcoming setting within, where the crew offers a more accessible approach to fine cocktails than the often exceedingly formal environs of London's best bars.
WHY NOW: Head east to Bethnal Green, and find an ever-changing cocktail menu that will keep you returning to this little off-the-tourist-track gem of a watering hole.

WHY HERE: History runs rich at this Bethnal Green bar. It originally opened in 1851 and then again in 2014 as a fine drinking den, complete with punches, classic cocktails, local ales, a selection of Irish whiskeys, and poitín, which is basically Irish moonshine.
WHY NOW: It's not every place that gives guests a side of history both in the drink and with the building. The Sun Tavern is special this way and exudes a warming charm that makes you want to stay and learn all about what it has to offer. Plus, it’s one of the only bars to specialize in poitín, which it offers flights of.
