Gin and cucumber get a Daiquiri twist from The Mayhaw at St. Roch Market.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Hendrick's gin
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 3/4 ounce cucumber syrup*
  • 1/2 ounce plum syrup**
  • Garnish: cucumber wheel

Steps

  1. Add all of the ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.

  2. Strain into a Collins glass.

  3. Garnish with a cucumber wheel.

*Cucumber syrup: Mash 1 small cucumber. Add 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar to a pot over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and add the smashed cucumber and its juices and allow to cool completely. Strain out and discard the solids. Will keep, refrigerated, for up to 1 week.

**Plum syrup: Chop 2 large plums, removing seeds. Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar to a pot over medium heat. Once the sugar dissolves, add the plums and simmer for approximately 15 minutes, until the plum pieces are soft. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Strain out and discard the solids. Will keep, refrigerated, for up to 5 days.
