The characteristics of this cocktail are multiple; it is as good a drink for winter as it is for summer. It is a perfect combination in good balance. It has everything, sweet fruit, sour, herbal, woody. The smoke of the garnish makes a for a sensory “umami” attack. It is a rich smoke with smells of spices and burnt citrus that immediately hits the senses before you ever take a sip.
This drink was a big hit on my new job , I had to make a cocktail menu and I dint had so much time or ingredients to work but it come just right.
I needed a menu that was good for winter but fun and delicious like summer
I chose whiskey for being a winter distillate but at the same time the rye brings notions of summer, the lime to balance the sweet of the grenedine and the grenedine to give it a fruity flavor, to give it a bit of cinnamon, herbs and caramel i use angostura together with the decoration of the orange and the cloves with the smoke to give a winter time personalitation.
