- 1 bottle fruity red wine (such as beaujolais or syrah)
- 4 ounces bourbon or brandy
- 4 star anise pods
- 2 long strips of lemon or orange peel
- 2 tsp sugar
- Garnish: 6 cinnamon sticks
Add all ingredients into a small saucepan and cook over low heat until warm, but do not allow to boil.
Remove from heat and let stand for 5-10 minutes.
Divide between six mugs or punch cups.
Garnish each with a cinnamon stick.
