Tennessee Rye Sazerac

What's this?

Great rye whiskey can turn a standard Sazerac into something incredible. That’s why this recipe specifically calls for Jack Daniel’s Tennessee rye, which is made with Jack’s signature charcoal mellowing process and a 70 percent rye grain bill. It’s the only way to make a Sazerac this spicy and smooth.

  • Absinthe, to rinse
  • 2 oz Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye whiskey
  • 1/2 oz Simple syrup
  • 3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
  • Garnish: Lemon twist

  1. Rinse a chilled rocks glass with absinthe, discarding any excess, and set aside.

  2. Add remaining ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.

  3. Strain into the absinthe-rinsed glass.

  4. Twist a lemon peel over the surface of the glass to express the oils.

  5. Drop the lemon twist into the glass to garnish.
