Claret adds more than a striking look to this cocktail. (Although floating it does look pretty cool.) The wine brings an extra level of complexity and depth to the refreshing trinity of rye whiskey, lemon juice and simple syrup.
- 2 oz Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye whiskey
- 3/4 oz Fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz Simple syrup
- 3/4 oz Claret red wine
- Garnish: Orange slice; Cherries
Add all ingredients except the wine into a shaker with ice and shake.
Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
Float the wine on top.
Garnish with an orange slice and 2 cherries.
