Let the flavor of cognac shine in this sweet, spicy interpretation of a Sidecar.
- 1 1/2 oz Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège cognac
- 1/2 oz Luxardo maraschino liqueur
- 1/2 oz Tubi 60
- 1/4 oz Blanc vermouth
- 3/4 oz Fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 oz Peppercorn syrup*
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- Garnish: Half-rim superfine sugar, Meyer lemon oils
Coat half the rim of a coupe glass in superfine sugar.
Add all the ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake.
Strain into a coupe.
Express the oils of a Meyer lemon peel over top.
*Peppercorn syrup: Toast 2 tbsp white peppercorns in a pan until they start popping. Let them cool, then grind coarsely in a spice grinder. Add to a medium pot with 2 cups water and 2 cups white sugar. Bring to a boil and reduce for 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool before using.
