Let the flavor of cognac shine in this sweet, spicy interpretation of a Sidecar.


  • 1 1/2 oz Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège cognac
  • 1/2 oz Luxardo maraschino liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Tubi 60
  • 1/4 oz Blanc vermouth
  • 3/4 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz Peppercorn syrup*
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • Garnish: Half-rim superfine sugar, Meyer lemon oils


  1. Coat half the rim of a coupe glass in superfine sugar.

  2. Add all the ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake.

  3. Strain into a coupe.

  4. Express the oils of a Meyer lemon peel over top.

  5. *Peppercorn syrup: Toast 2 tbsp white peppercorns in a pan until they start popping. Let them cool, then grind coarsely in a spice grinder. Add to a medium pot with 2 cups water and 2 cups white sugar. Bring to a boil and reduce for 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool before using.
