In retrospect, it might seem obvious that Greece, a coastal country in the heart of the Mediterranean, could inspire a refreshing spin on the Whiskey Sour. But pairing Gentleman Jack and citrus with Greek yogurt and pistachio syrup is an unexpected choice that really pays off.
Add all ingredients except bitters into a shaker and dry-shake (no ice) for 15-20 seconds.
Add ice and shake again for 10-15 seconds.
Strain into a coupe glass.
Add the bitters.
Garnish with a lemon tree leaf.
*Pistachio syrup: Add 4 oz whole pistachios (no shell), 1 oz chopped pistachios, 3 cups water and 1/2 cup sugar to a pot and bring to a boil. Turn off heat and let sit for 10 minutes. Strain out the nuts, add 2 cups sugar and stir until fully dissolved. Add 1/4 oz rose flower water, 1/4 oz orange blossom water and 2 oz cognac. Seal and refrigerate.
