There’s no need to mess with the formula that made the Mai Tai the quintessential Tiki cocktail. But you can lend it the classic notes of chocolate, spice and toasted oak simply by using Angostura five-year-old rum.
- 2 1/2 oz Angostura five-year-old rum
- 1 oz Orange curaçao
- 1 oz Pineapple juice
- 1/2 oz Fresh lime juice
- 1/4 oz Orgeat
- 1/2 tsp White cane sugar
- 1 dash Vanilla syrup (optional)
- Garnish: Mint sprig; Lime wedge
Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake.
Strain into a rocks or Tiki glass over fresh ice.
Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wedge.
