Enrique Sanchez
Enrique Sanchez is the founder of chasquiSF LLC, for which he consults on multiple bar concepts in the Bay Area. Sanchez has more than a decade of experience working as a bar director at various Bay Area establishments, and was honored as one of San Francisco Chronicle’s Bar Stars 2010.
Experience
Born in Lima, Peru, where he worked as an industrial mechanic, Enrique Sanchez dreamt of life in the United States. After attending the City College of San Francisco, he began working as a bartender at Bacar in 2004. Over the next four years, Sanchez worked behind the bar at Lulu Restaurant, Tres Agaves, and Beretta, and was recruited in 2008 to oversee the opening of La Mar Cebichería. Sanchez was recognized as one of San Francisco Chronicle’s Bar Stars in 2010. Sanchez later joined the team at Jasper’s Corner Tap and Kitchen and eventually became bar director at Fresca Restaurants, where he managed three separate locations.
In 2014, Sanchez joined Chef Traci Des Jardins’ team and opened Arguello, where he created cocktails using seasonal ingredients and small-batch mezcals and tequilas to complement the restaurant’s California-inspired Mexican dishes. In 2018, he opened School Night bar and restaurant with a weekday-only concept.
Sanchez owns consulting company, chasquiSF LLC, for which he has worked on the opening of several Bay Area concepts, including State Street Market, El Alto Mexican restaurant, Traverse, and Anecdote. He can also be found behind the stick at ABV.
