Cherry Revolution

Cherry Revolution cocktail

This cocktail, a sibling of a Harvey Wallbanger but with a secret essential ingredient, comes courtesy of Antonio Matarazzo, the co-owner and beverage director of Stellina in Washington, D.C. “For this cocktail, we added a little cherry flavor to introduce an iconic flavor of D.C. spring: cherry blossoms,” he says. That comes from the Cerasum, an Italian infusion of 10 herbs, three different cherries and sakura blossoms, the tartness of which plays off the Galliano. If you can’t find it, substitute cherry Heering or cherry brandy, but you’ll want to replace some of the orange juice with lemon to dial down the sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 ounces vodka
  • 2 3/4 ounces orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce Galliano
  • 1/4 ounce Don Ciccio & Figli Cerasum aperitivo
  • Garnish: orange wheel
  • Garnish: maraschino cherry

Steps

  1. Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.

  2. Strain into a Collins glass over fresh ice.

  3. Garnish with an orange wheel and a skewered maraschino cherry.
