Rivente' Cognac Essential Facts
Cognac VSOP – 40% proof, 4 years
Tasting Note: From the best of the Fins Bois, Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, Rivente’ is a Cognac of perfect balance and harmony. Aromas of soft fruits and perfumed flowers later give way to vanilla and spice. On the palate, it’s mellow, smooth and surprisingly delicate, with a distinctive orange marmalade note. The finish is long and satisfying, with subtle vanilla and pleasant fruit flavors lingering after each sip. Grape varieties: Ugni Blanc (90%) and Colombard (10%).
Rivente’ Cognac VSOP is a blend of 26 individual eaux-de-vies, each having been aged for at least four years prior to blending. Master Blender Laclie matures his spirits in used oak casks, known as roux, to preserve the inherently nuanced flavors and avoid the harshness that can come from the tannin in new wood. The oak is sourced exclusively from the nearby Limousin forest, whose oak is the most expensive in the world.
Rivente’ Cognac VSOP is an elegant blend of eaux-de-vies from three of Cognac’s great wine growing regions, or crus. Cognacs two greatest crus, Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, make up around half the blend. The blend is complemented with eaux-de-vies from Cognacs largest cru, Fins Bois, known for their wonderful fruit and floral aromas. The result is a super-premium VSOP Cognac of exceptional balance.
