The Perfect Brunch Cocktails

We’re not sure what America’s Founding Fathers would have done today, but we recommend you have a leisurely (and boozy) July 5 brunch if you’re lucky enough to be off work. To help you get your meal started right, here are some of our favorite mid-morning beverages. And if you’re in the office, just remember that these drinks will still taste great tomorrow and all summer long.

All-star San Francisco bartender Erik Adkins introduced us to the delicious and fizzy Bourbon Lift (pictured above). It’s an adult version of the classic soda fountain egg cream. (Catch him making the recipe in our How to Cocktail video.) The bourbon-based creation goes well with French toast and pancakes.

Have the Wimbledon matches on this morning? Then you need to fix the Pimm’s Cup. It’s practically the official cocktail of the tournament, with tens of thousands being served at the All England Club during the fortnight. It’s a mix of Pimm’s No. 1, Sprite, 7UP or ginger ale, and a range of sliced fruits and cucumber. (Watch talented San Francisco barman and advisory board member H. Joseph Ehrmann whip up the concoction in another spirited video segment.)

And if you’re expecting a crowd for brunch, try top New York mixologist and advisory board member Julie Reiner’s tart and fruity gin-based Boat House Punch. And best of all, it pairs perfectly with eggs and other breakfast staples. Cheers!
