The Best of BACARDÍ® at Portland Cocktail Week 2014

Did you miss this year’s Portland Cocktail Week festivities? As always, the annual event brought together the country’s finest bartenders, spirit professionals and cocktail enthusiasts for a week of education and community building.

Two events truly embodied the festival’s sense of teamwork and creativity. The BACARDÍ® Mashup brought together New York’s renowned NoMad Bar with Portland hotspot Clyde Common, and tasked bartenders from both to create innovative cocktails together using Bacardi products. One of the most popular events, the Mashup was attended by countless industry leaders and bartenders like Leo Robitschek, Dominic Venegas, Lacy Hawkins and many more, and the celebration stretched long into the evening hours.

Back again this year, the BACARDÍ® Bar Build event proved to be just as popular in its second run. Four teams of bartenders from around the country were selected to compete in this exciting, day-long contest. The challenge? To build the ultimate bar in one day, from initial concept and cocktail list to social media promotion and profitability plan. The teams fully constructed their dream bars and were judged by a “Shark Tank” of industry experts including Jim Meehan and Ian Mclaren. This year’s winning team went by the name of “Pipeline” and built a crowd-pleasing rum-centric surfer bar complete with elevated tiki drinks and themed t-shirts.
