This week, salute your pets with a drink, toast to the weekend and learn all about the classic Aviation. Want your ‘gram to show up on Liquor.com? Take my word for it. You want to get #Straused.@alex_the_bon_vivants at the brand-new@eplosangeles. Here he is with the 8-oz Knuckle Duster #cocktail. Just take a couple of days to recover and you’re good. #latergram

The Aviation The original recipe for The Aviation was first published in Hugo Ensslin’s ‘Recipes for Mixed Drinks’ in 1916. Though the drink was well received by both bartenders and bar-goers, it didn’t gain any real popularity until modern cocktail bars started including it on their menus again in the mid 2000’s. The combination of lemon citrus and sweet cherry liqueur is complimented by the floral nose and cloudy hue of the Crème de Violette. The resulting glass is proof that The Aviation is one of history’s greatest classic cocktails. It’s one of our favorites and we think it could be one of yours, too. Cheers! Recipe

  • 2 oz Gin
  • .5 oz Maraschino liqueur
  • .25 oz Crème de violette or Crème Yvette
  • .75 oz Lemon juice

Shake with ice. Strain into coupe glass. Garnish with a cherry and serve. “When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.” – Henry Youngman #cocktail #cocktails #aviation #drinks #gin #bartender #cocktailculture #mixology #liquorgram #draaanks #cocktailporn
