The 10 Craziest Liquor Flavors of All Time

With so many alcohol brands on the market, companies will do whatever it takes to make their bottles stand out. This has led to an influx of every flavored liquor imaginable. We’ve rounded up the most bizarre and cringeworthy below.

1. Wasabi, Oddka Vodka


Wasabi itself is a lot to take in on its own, but combined with vodka it actually sounds scary. We can feel our throats burning just thinking about it. If you’re looking to sample this vodka, proceed with caution.

2. Seaweed, Dà Mhìle Gin

With another sushi-esque flavor, this seaweed-flavored gin is designed to complement seafood. The seaweed is purportedly hand-harvested on the Celtic coast, a hipster’s dream come true. But we think we’ll pass.

3. Smoked Salmon, Alaska Distillery Vodka

“You know what would go great in vodka? Fish!” said no one ever. Although perhaps this product might work in a savory cocktail, we’re not sure how else it could fare.

4. Big Dill, Naked Jay Vodka

This may be perfect for a Pickle Martini, but we don’t see much value out of it otherwise. Let’s keep pickles in our burgers and out of our vodka.

5. Sarsaparilla, Jeremiah Weed Whiskey

What even is sarsaparilla? Turns out it’s more than just a funny word. Old-time soft drinks were made with the root of the sarsaparilla plant (hence “root beer”).  This whiskey is reminiscent of soda fountains—not exactly the vibe we’d expect from a typical whiskey!

6. Pineapple Upside-Down Cake, Malibu Rum

Although the flavor might not sounds too crazy, think about it for a second: They could’ve just stopped at pineapple rum, but they had to take it a step further. Pineapple upside-down cake is a whole different entity, and we’re not sure how well that translates to booze. This one gets crazy points just for being way over the top.

7. Asparagus, Portobello Road Gin

Admittedly, this one isn’t technically asparagus flavored, but it features a healthy dose of asparagus tucked away in its list of botanicals. Apparently making gin from asparagus was quite popular in the early 20th century, but it’s been about 100 years since one has been on the market—until now. Just make sure to hold your nose when “breaking the seal” after drinking this gin.

8. Bacon, Bakon Vodka

This is a dream come true for some pork fans and a nightmare for vegetarians. Bacon may have jumped the shark, but it will always have a cult following, so there’s most definitely a market for this. The vodka brand’s site lists smoky breakfast meat as a “complementary ingredient for both sweet and savory” cocktails, but we’re not sure we’d be brave enough to put this in anything except a Bloody Mary.

9. Saffron, Boudier Gin

We’ve heard of luxurious alcohols, but infusing gin with the most expensive spice in the world takes this trend to a new level. Saffron can typically sell anywhere from $1,600 to $5,000 per pound, so if you’re going to try this gin, you better make sure to savor it. (Luckily, you can buy a bottle for under $40, which seems like a bargain, all things considered.)

10. Scorpion, Skorppio Vodka

Yup, you read that right. This vodka bottle is indeed infused with actual scorpions! Supposedly consuming scorpions was a sacred ritual for tribal warriors back in the day, but we’re not really the warrior type. Two words: hard pass.
