If your idea of a perfect brew leans more toward beer than coffee, you can thank Breckenridge Brewery for the magical creation known as Pumpkin Spice Latte beer.
Although pumpkin beers are plentiful this time of year, this is the first beer to claim the PSL name. According to its brewers, it’s a stout made with dark-roasted malts and cold-pressed coffee beans. Its flavors, aside from the obvious pumpkin, include cloves, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon, all reminiscent of the autumnal specialty drink. The 5.5 percent ABV brew is pressurized with nitrogen, rather than carbon dioxide, to deliver a creamy texture reminiscent of the coffee drink.
The brew is part of Breckenridge’s Nitro Series, which also includes a Vanilla Porter and the Lucky U IPA. The beers are available in packs of four, but you better pick some up fast—they’re seasonal and only available through October.
