A boozy scandal may have carnivalgoers thinking twice about downing a drink at Europe’s largest street festival.

Police seized over 260 bottles of spirits and Champagne, 50 cases of beer and cider and six containers of rum punch from west London’s annual Notting Hill Carnival in a raid at 11 a.m. on August 31.

The haul of confiscated booze, which was suspected to be both counterfeit and over-proof (more than 50-percent alcohol), was valued at about £30,000 by the metropolitan police.
