Well, that didn’t take long!
If you’re not content to sit home sipping your favorite Pokémon-inspired cocktails, now you can join your fellow hunters in Pokémon bar crawls all across the country.
In Portland, Ore., local alternative paper Willamette Week announced a route that winds its way through some very geeky watering holes, including Ground Kontrol, a video game parlor with boozy benefits. Organized by an Apple tech support specialist, the event encourages costumes and asks participants to keep it collaborative: “Save your Lures and make sure we all reap the benefits of each stop,” writes host Matthew Reinstadler on the event’s Facebook page, which sports a cartoon of a Pikachu worshiping at the porcelain altar.
On the opposite coast, Brokelyn, a website for cheap thrills in New York City’s most hipster borough, chimed in, announcing a crawl through the Greenpoint neighborhood that promises to route participants past a Pokémon Gym (don’t ask). The host, a digital strategist named Jeff Ramos, guarantees you’ll cross paths with “Pikachus, Bulbasars, Squirtles, Psyducks and more!”
Other locations are not left out. We’ve seen announcements of Pokémon Go bar crawls in Florida, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas and Michigan. Chances are good that you can search “Pokemon bar crawl” and your city name on Facebook and come up with a local event.
