Behind the Scenes at the Bar Shift Reunion in NOLA | Partner Tip

Have you been following Bar Shift’s journey around the country? Liquor.com’s program, sponsored by BACARDÍ® USA, sends one professional drinks slinger to a far away city to work a shift at a top drinking destination.

Last Wednesday, the seasoned host and guest bartenders from past Bar Shifts met in New Orleans for a well-deserved celebration. The reunion allowed the Bar Shift veterans to swap shift stories and enjoy each other’s signature cocktails inspired by their travels.

Enzo Cangemi was there as well as a few familiar faces, like Pam Wiznitzer, Gui Jaroschy and NOLA’s own Daniel Victory. Plus, the evening reunited bartenders with their Bar Shift hosts like Vince Toscano from San Francisco’s Rye and Karl Franz Williams from Harlem’s 67 Orange Street. The reunion was also a great preview for upcoming Bar Shift participants as well. Johnny Codd will be hitting Mexico City in August for his shift and was able to get the scoop on what to expect from his fellow bartenders.

And the cocktails? Bar Shift’s greatest hits were flowing, including Enzo Cangemi’s Mangapeño, Daniel Victory’s Brandy Crusta and Gui Jaroschy’s Southernmost State of Mind. There was also Pam Wiznitzer’s signature #RAD cocktail, which was inspired by her favorite moment during Tales on Sunday night, when the industry takes over a local bar every year and breaks out the sparkling rosé. That energy was captured with her bubbly combination of cognac, St-Germain, strawberry puree and absinthe topped with a float of rosé and a mini rubber duckie.

The Bar Shift reunion was a wild success that reconnected old friends and celebrated the program’s ultimate goal: to create lasting relationships and a strong sense of community between bartenders across the country.
